There's no external drilling of the body required. Depending on your model, the cover either suits the existing factory clip on rails or comes with low-profile aluminium extrusions that rivet inside the tub.

Fitting issues

The clipping in of the cover to the lip on the front of the deck was very difficult. My moderately sized fingers couldn't press the cover down and over the lip. The cover trim on the front of the cover refuses to slip right over abd into the deck lip. It even seems obvious when viewed from both ends, it's only hooked onto the edge of the deck lip, not over it. I tried many times, I've even used a plastic wedge to try and ensure that the cover gives far enough down and registers into the deck lip. Ive even conscripicted assistance of 2 other people to ensure that we have full control over the cover. The outcomes is still the same. The deck is not damaged in any way, the truck is like new having traveled only 34,000 kms.

Ford Ranger Cover

Long story short, this was a very poor experience. I ordered the correct part number, but when it arrived the wrong cover was sent and it did not match what I purchased. After several days of back and forth emails, the company eventually confirmed they had sent the wrong part through no fault of my own. They did eventually send the correct item, but only after a lot of unnecessary emailing and delays. The main issue is that I had already paid $220 to have the incorrect part professionally installed, as I do not have the tools or knowledge to install it myself. Despite acknowledging that the wrong part was sent, they refused to cover the installation cost, repeatedly stating it was a DIY install and not their responsibility. I was financially penalised for their mistake even though I acted in good faith and trusted the correct part would be supplied. Slow communication, poor resolution, and no accountability. I would not recommend dealing with this company.

The front of the tonneau comes off when back and sides unclipped, I had to glue it in place.

Unfortunate cheap materials

The plastic strips which clip onto the aluminum strips are very soft and don’t clip on very well. They fold easily at the ends and then just don’t work. Looked amazing when I first installed it but went quickly downhill after that. I should have spent a bit more snd purchased a better product
